The Allophyl, also known as the "Fisherman", is one of the strangest native animals on Calypso. It's extremely tall, but despite this size, its body is very light, allowing its long and slender legs to support its own weight. The Allophyl is a marine animal and lives near the waterside were it primarily feeds on fish and other water animals. Its hunting technique varies from searching the sea bottom to catching free-swimming prey in the water, but its method remains the same. It uses sensitive electrodes on its tentacles to locate the prey, which it then stuns it with an electric charge released into the water between its two slender tentacle arms.
The flying Igni insects are sometimes seen hovering around these majestic animals, hoping to extract some of the residue energy from the electric charges that are released while the Allophyl is hunting.
HuntingOn Eudoria, the best known hunting spot for this mob is probably south of Limnadian District. This is a dense spawn with maturities young to dominant. The spawn is mixed with Estophyl. Other places this mob can be found on Eudoria is north of Limnadian District and west of Camp Caravan. Both places are mixed with Igni which most hunters experience as annoying. A less popular place is south of Fort Troy, where they are mixed with Feffoid.
On Amethera there are a couple good spots to hunt these creatures. First there are the land areas: Amethera Outback Land #26 and Amethera Outback Land #12 which often offer higher maturities. For tax-free areas, south west of Bilton is a great spot for young Allophyl. Also west and east of Rei's Defense are good spots. The maturities there are between young and alpha. Other places are north of Shinook Jungle and east of the Thorifoid temple. Finally there is a spawn northwest of Omegaton West Habit. This spawn is mixed with Tezlapod, which conveniently also do electric damage.
Name MeaningAllophyl - From the Greek "Allos" means "another, other, otherwise". "Philos" is "a friend , a companion". So it's just another friend? (see Estophyl) Alternately, Greek "Phyllon" is a leaf, so it's a "Different Leaf"?
